Education & Employment

Head Start Program Gladstone

Stage 1: Recruitment

All candidates will undertake aptitude testing. This will be followed by a face-to-face interview and candidates who meet the eligibility criteria may be offered a place in the program. Participants will be required to pass a drug and alcohol test

Stage 2: Employability and Life Skills

The program provides two weeks of employability and life skills specific training:

  • Communication
  • White Card
  • Resume Writing
  • Industry awareness
  • Financial Literacy
  • Traditional Games-Cultural Protocols
  • Interview Techniques
  • Resume Writing
  • Employer and Employee expectations
  • Conflict resolution

Stage 3: Accredited Training

Certificate II Electrotechnology

Vocational Placement: 2-4 weeks

Their Training Included:

  • Apply OHS practices in the workplace
  • Solve problems in extra low voltage single path circuits
  • Solve problems in multiple path d.c circuits
  • Use of routine equipment/ plant/ technologies in an electrotechnology environment
  • Carry out routine work activities in an electrotechnology environment

Stage 4: Accredited Training

  • Identify and select components, accessories and materials for elctrotechnology work activities
  • Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
  • CPR and Low Voltage (LVR)

Stage 5: Work Experience

ECS will work with you to find suitable work experience to gain on –the-job experience

Stage 5: Employment

ECS assisted each participant to gain employment once they had completed their Certificate II in Elctrotechnolgy

Stage 6: Mentoring

Participants will receive ongoing mentoring and support throughout the duration of training and continuing for six months moving into employment.


The training and employability/ life skills is jointly funded by QGC and the Queensland Government at no cost to the participant.
